Summer in the City

Registration is now open for Summer in the City 2025, and will remain open through May 1, 2025. Read on for all the exciting details!


Held on our historic Back Bay campus, Summer in the City welcomes students entering Grades P3–6. Guided by experienced teachers, summer participants explore weekly themes through collaborative, hands-on art and STEM projects. Children are encouraged to follow their passions and make meaningful connections across grade levels.

Overview

Full Day: 9:00 a.m –4:00 p.m. 
Drop-off: 8:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m.
Pick-up: 3:45–4:00 p.m. 
Late Stay: 4:00–5:00 p.m. (Late Stay is NOT offered on Friday, August 1.)
Half Day: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (Half Day is offered to P3–K students only.)

Registration

Registration is available through our online registration platform, CampBrain. A non-refundable $100 deposit will apply to each registration. You may change your registration options until June 2, 2025. We regret that no refunds will be offered after that date.

Early Childhood

Early Childhood friends will explore natural materials, joyful movement, and new friendships while maintaining essential routines. Singing, painting, storytelling, climbing, puzzling, and much more are in store for our littlest learners.

Summer in the City for Early Childhood students is offered in two-week time blocks, with either a half day or full day option. Sessions run Monday through Friday with no weekend availability.

This program is available to students in Grades P3, P4, and K. Children turning three by September 1 are considered "P3," children turning four by September 1 are "P4," and children turning five by September 1 are "Ks." 

Please note that P3 students must be either current Kingsley students or prospective Kingsley students with a planned start date of September 2025. The program is open to the public for Grades P4–K. 

Kingsley is a secure and allergy-safe campus with a nurse on campus throughout the summer program. Summer in the City is suited for students from all backgrounds and school types. All programming is conducted in English and participants are expected to have a basic grasp of English, with the ability to understand instructions, follow directions, and communicate their needs. 

Early Childhood Session 1, Art Explorers: June 23–July 3, 2025

Unleash your creativity with Kingsley’s artistic adventures! Our young friends will learn about famous artists, create their own mini masterpieces, and meet local artists. Each day is an opportunity to explore new techniques, colors, and styles while building confidence in self-expression.

Early Childhood Session 2, Story Explorers: July 7–July 18, 2025

Step into the magical world of storytelling! Our young friends will dive into beloved tales, create their own stories, and bring them to life through puppetry and illustrations. From crafting characters to acting out adventures, this session sparks imagination and creativity at every turn of the storybook page.

Early Childhood Session 3, Nature Explorers: July 21–August 1, 2025

Discover the wonders of the great outdoors! Our young friends will explore nature through hands-on activities, learning about plants, animals, and the environment. Nature-based art projects will help students explore what they see and feel, and help foster a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Elementary

Each day, the Elementary group safely adventures through Boston by foot, train, or bus, taking advantage of everything the city has to offer. Previous trips have included: a tour of Fenway Park, a pizza tour of the North End, a backstage look at the Wang Theatre, the Harvard Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of Fine Arts. Outdoor play is also a time to explore, with daily visits to local parks, playgrounds, and splash pads. Summer in the City is suited for students from all backgrounds and school types. We can’t wait to see you there!

The Elementary program is open to students rising to Grades 1–6. Sessions run Monday through Friday with no weekend availability. All sessions are full-day.

To encourage collaboration and community within our Elementary program, all Elementary students enrolled will be in a combined cohort (Grades 1–6). Projects will be differentiated to account for our summer students' various developmental stages, skills, and abilities.

Elementary Week 1, Time Travelers: June 23–June 27, 2025

Step into a time machine and journey through the decades! Each day, friends will explore a different era through scavenger hunts, crafts, and exciting adventures. Discover how people lived, dressed, and played in times past and unravel history with interactive, hands-on experiences.

Elementary Week 2, Maker’s Lab: June 30–July 3, 2025

Dive into a world of creativity and innovation! Students will learn skills like crocheting, sewing, and jewelry-making, while designing and building their own inventions. Limited materials and trial-and-error experiments will foster problem-solving, teamwork, and imaginative thinking. 

Elementary Week 3, Legends and Lore: July 7–July 11, 2025

Unearth tales of mystery and magic in this folklore-inspired program! Elementary friends will explore storytelling traditions from around the world and craft their own legendary tales. Explorations around the city will add elements of wonder and real-world connection to this enchanted week of creative quests.

Elementary Week 4, The Beats of Newbury Street: July 14–July 18, 2025

Feel the rhythm and let the music move you! Elementary friends will explore dance and music, make instruments from found materials, and record their own songs. From creating jams to performing choreographed routines, this week will spark creativity and musical confidence.

Elementary Week 5, Private Eye Science Spy: July 21–July 25, 2025

Put on your detective hat and dive into the world of science sleuthing! Elementary friends will experiment like mythbusters, solve riddles, and design gadgets. Coding challenges and hands-on experiments will ignite curiosity and critical thinking skills. Get ready to crack the code!

Elementary Week 6, Global Explorers: July 28–August 1, 2025

Pack your imagination for a trip around the world! Each day, elementary friends will “travel” to a new destination, learning about its culture, food, and traditions through interactive activities. From crafting to storytelling, these adventures will foster curiosity and build global appreciation.
